Sunwood® Dutch Design combines craftsmanship with innovation. What started as a forge grew into a specialist in stylish outdoor fireplaces designed and produced in the Netherlands. And all of this from a number of spearheads:

Atmosphere supplier and family business since 1937
Our family history as entrepreneurs goes back two generations. Marinus Sunderman started in 1937 as a farrier and later started as a decorative blacksmith in Kampen, where he produced wrought ironwork such as candlesticks, coat racks and lamps with craftsmanship and imagination. His passion for craftsmanship grew into designing and making high-quality products.
His son, Carino Sunderman, continued this tradition and specialized in ornamental ironwork, including fencing and monumental locks and fittings. Eventually, his focus shifted to designing fireplaces and gas fires, with his first creation being the 'fireball'. With this, he laid the foundation for the high-quality outdoor fireplaces that Sunwood is known for today.
